Tomato Mint Chutney is healthy, tasty and spicy chutney recipe. However, the spiciness can be adjusted by your choice. This wonderful chutney goes with Tiffen varieties like idly, dosa, paniyaram, appam etc and this chutney prepared very quickly like any other chutney. Mint chutney is made of fresh and flavorful mint leaves and it is blended with onion, tomato, garlic, green chillies, channa dal, urad dal and coconut. Tomato mint Chutney

  • 1 cup Mint leaves
  • 1 qt Tomato (I have taken one small tomato)
  • 1 qt Large onion
  • 2 Garlic
  • Small piece of Ginger
  • 1 qt Green chillies (As per your choice of spiciness)
  • 2 qt Red chilles
  • 5 tbsp Sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup Urad dal
  • Salt to taste
  1. To a pan add 2tbsp oil. ( I have used sesame oil to enhance the chutney taste even more) When the Oil is hot add Urad dal.
  2. When the Urad dal is golden brown, add Onion, Dry chillies and Green Chilli.
  3. Saute until the onion is golden brown. Close with a lid to cook the onion faster.
  4. Add Tomatoes and saute until the tomato is cooked.
  5. Add grated coconut and saute for a minute in low flame.
  6. Add Mint leaves and saute again for 30 to 50 seconds.
  7. Add Salt, Grind the whole mixture.
  8. Grind into a coarse paste.
  9. To a Small Pan, add Oil and when the oil is hot add mustard seeds, red chillies and chana dal. Fry until golden brown.
  10. Add the fried ingredients into chutney. Out spicy Mind chutney is ready!! Happy Cooking!!!
