Soya Kheema Balls / Soya Chunks Kola Urandai /
Meal Maker Kola Urandai / Soya Chunks Fritters
This delicious, healthy, vegetarian Soya chunks Soya Kheema Balls. It is a chettinad special, so usually made with minced mutton. Here I have used soya chunks as a substitute to mutton. It is famous in south India especially in Tamil Nadu.
Its a Crunchy Munchy healthy Snack recipe for kids that goes well with Tomato Ketchup.
Boil the water in pan and add soya chunks(meal maker) in the water. Cook them for 5 minutes. Switch off the stove and let the soya to soak for 15 to 20 minutes in hot water.
Drain the water and wash it in running cold water for 2 times to get rid of the raw smell of the soya chunks. Squeeze out the excess water.
Dry roast the gram dal (pottukadali) and grind them into fine powder and keep it aside.
For grinding in a mixer add the cinammon, cloves, fennel seeds, roasted gram gram(pottukadalai) green chilli, ginger and garlic paste(Instead you can use chopped ginger and garlic) i have added little soy chunks in a jar its helpful for grind it properly.
In mixer jar add soya chunks and grind them coarsely without using water.
In a mixing bowl add soya chunks coarse, along with paste, finally chopped onion, gram flour powder, salt, chilli powder, corainder leaves.
Mix well to form a smooth dough.
Shape them into a small balls or depends on what shape you or your kids like. You can make it like vada or oval shape.
Note - Make sure no cracks on the kola balls
Heat oil in a pan or kadai. when the oil is hot enough, reduce the flame into low and drop the kola balls to it. Cook them on low flame till they are evenly cooked and light brown in color.
Serve hot and yummy Soya kheema kola urandai with tomato ketchup.
