Ragi pancakes or Millet flour Pancakes

Millet flour pancakes are Healthy, Gluten-free and also kids friendly too. Pancakes are same like Asia dish called uttapam. Ragi is a  traditional grain which is the first food for babies in south India.

My son always asks for pancakes so twice a week, I make pancakes with different millet flour in a healthy way. I usually prepare pancakes without baking soda. However, I saw some of the pancakes recipes in youtube with baking soda. So in this recipe, I have added soda for the first time to test the difference between with and without Baking soda.

Honestly, I did notice any difference, the pancake was as fluffy and sponge similar to the pancakes which I used to make without soda.

    Preparing Pancake Batter
  • Add an egg to a bowl
  • Whisk it well as shown in a picture
  • Add Ragi Flour, Wheat Flour, Jaggery and baking soda. Mix is roughly.
  • Then add milk and mix gently to a pouring consistency.
  • Set aside for 10 minutes
  • Cooking Pancake in Pan
  • Give it a quick mix. Heat pan in medium flame. once the pan is hot, grease it with butter or oil, then pour pancake mix carefully on the pan(shown in the picture) Do not spread. Wait until you see the bubbles on the pancake surface and flip carefully.
  • Cook the other side for a 1 minute.
  • Now our hot yummy pancakes are ready to eat.
