Godhumai Kachayam Recipe

A very famous south Asian traditional and healthy sweet. This was the method of how my great grandmother used to cook this recipe. Over the period, Wheat was replaced with Maida (All purpose flour).

In this recipe, I’m going to cook in the same method, how our ancestors used to cook Godhumai Kachayam with simple 4 ingredients.

  • Soak broken wheat for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Strain the excess water completely.
  • In Mixer, add soaked broken wheat, coconut, cardamom, palm jaggery Note: Any jaggery you may take like cane sugar, jaggery
  • Grind all the ingredients together without adding water
  • Mix well, the batter should be a thick consistency.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Take fine balls and deep fry in oil. Flip the other side when it is golden brown from the bottom.
  • Our Godhumai Kachayam is ready!! Happy Cooking!!!
